As Publicist, your primary role is to lead and execute sound PR and social media strategies that have a major, positive impact for our clients, while pitching media and securing significant national, local and regional press coverage.

How You’ll Do It

• Positively impact Golden Word and its clients in a significant way
• Build and nurture relationships with and pitch national, regional and local media with the goal of securing regular, major press coverage for clients
• Brainstorm and research new ways to powerfully spread the word on behalf of clients
• Fulfill press requests: interviews, images, information, product
• Draft press documents and look books
• Plan, research, create or direct as applicable, distribute, and analyze content with the aim of attracting and engaging audiences and secure coverage for clients
• Conduct influencer relations, from target list generation and initiating contact to relationship building and partnership execution
• Build relationships and execute activations with partners and influencers
• Directly manage client accounts and relationships, lead client meetings and media tours
• Design and execute strategies for accounts, including PR and social media
• Plan and host events, including travel to client events
• Advise clients on social media, email and web best practices; provide input and shotlists for photo shoots
• Always looking for new business opportunities, able to support new business pitches and proposals

What You’ll Need

• At least 4-6 years post-grad experience in PR pitching and placing consumer stories with media, able to lead client accounts with smart strategy
• Must have solid relationships with national, local and regional media
• Must be based in Charleston, SC
• Maintain relationships with top-tier national media contacts and influencers in the consumer/business space, easily able to convert coverage
• Able to envision, develop and execute creative PR strategy
• Work with Social Media Manager to help drive social strategy to complement broader communications plan
• Excellent English writing and speaking skills
• Optimistic, solutions-oriented, hustles with a smile
• Interested in our client mix and feels responsible in performing well for them
• Not just risk-tolerant but enjoys risking intelligently
• Very detail-oriented and caring about proper execution of tasks
• Connect the dots between clients and trending topics media are covering or will want to cover
• Roll with the fast-paced, slightly unpredictable development of a young business

This is a Remote Role

The person hired for this role is expected to work from home.There may be times when the person hired for this role needs to be at client events and meetings– appropriate notice will be provided.
