Job summary

The City of Red Oak is seeking a maintenance worker for utilities to support water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This role performs semi-skilled manual labor under supervision, operates trucks and equipment, and maintains sites and equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, experience with power tools, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience safely operating listed tools/equipment is required.
  • NIMS training within 3 months of hire is required.
  • Class D Water Distribution License and Class I Wastewater certificates preferred or obtainable within six months.
  • Ability to obtain Class B CDL within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the City of Red Oak professionally at all times.
  • Install or repair water and wastewater lines.
  • Evaluate and clear blockages in wastewater lines.
  • Excavate and perform street cuts.
  • Replace meters and install new devices.
  • Operate hydrants, valves, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Maintain and repair water/wastewater equipment daily.
  • Respond to emergency calls for water and sewer issues.
  • Load and unload construction materials as needed.
  • Ensure safety and adherence to procedures.
