Job summary

County of Culpeper seeks a Project Manager to oversee Locally Administered VDOT Transportation Projects in Culpeper County. You will coordinate planning, design reviews, and construction for transportation, utility, and development works, and collaborate with the Planning Department on grants and CIP projects.

Responsibilities include leading project teams, reviewing proposals, ensuring compliance with policies, and managing contracts, inspections, and approvals.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 5 years of civil engineering experience; PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs the design and construction of capital improvement projects; ensuring compliance with County utility and development policies, rules and regulations.
• Acts as Contract Administrator for infrastructure projects.
• Reviews subdivision and site plans for utility extensions for compliance with codes, regulations, and design; conducts inspections.
• Develop and revise utility ordinances, design standards, and policies as needed.
• Provides technical engineering expertise to other departments, as needed.
• Drafts and reviews contract additions and changes.
• Meets with local and state officials, contractors, developers and engineers as needed; responds to citizen inquiries.
