• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including presentation skills.
• Ability to investigate and resolve design issues.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple projects and contracts.
• Engineering experience related to transportation design, construction and the project development process.
• Knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards and materials (VDOT Road and Bridge).

Responsibilities

• Analysis and Technical Reporting: Analyze and interpret engineering data and produce clear reports and recommendations.
• Assemble Project Teams: Lead multidisciplinary teams toward timely project completion.
• Budget Management: Manage budgets and track estimates to meet objectives.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with VDOT, local government, consultants, and the public.
• Communications Management: Coordinate project team communications and report progress to sponsors and leadership.
• Engineering Process Management: Apply policies to deliver compliant engineering projects.
• Manage Assigned Activities: Plan and coordinate engineering program activities within scope and schedule.
• Project Engineering: Develop scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, changes, and status reports.
• Project Management: Create work plans and schedules; monitor delays and implement solutions.
• Resource Management: Oversee resources and staffing for projects.
• Roadway Design: Develop roadway designs and support cost estimates; manage various projects.
• Scope Management: Define and modify project scopes, schedules and budgets as needed.
• Special Assignments: Lead special program initiatives and represent VDOT on committees.
• Teamwork and Customer Service: Demonstrate customer service and effective communication.
