Job summary

City of Bartow, FL is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform heavy manual labor on streets, water and sewer projects and to operate a range of heavy equipment. Under supervision, you will install, repair and maintain water meters, backflow devices, and related systems.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 2-4 years of heavy manual work and equipment operation experience, a valid Florida driver’s license and Class B CDL, plus water distribution and backflow certificates.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of heavy manual labor and equipment operation experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License; Class B CDL.
• Water distribution license and backflow testing certificate.
• Ability to perform heavy physical tasks and work in various weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of manual labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets and utilities.
• Operate heavy equipment including track hoe, backhoe, dozer, forklift, tractors, street sweeper and VAC truck.
• Repair and install water meters; maintain related records.
• Test backflow prevention devices and prepare work orders and logs.
• Supervise crews as assigned and ensure safety protocols.
