Job summary

City of Kings Mountain is seeking workers to assist in the maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and rights-of-way. You'll operate under supervision, loading materials and supporting street crew activities.

This role involves outdoor work, exposure to weather, and potential standby/call-back duties, with opportunities to contribute to essential public works operations in Kings Mountain.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to perform difficult manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Participates in replacing, repairing, installing, fabricating and erecting street signs.
• Patches holes, spreads asphalt and repairs sidewalks.
• Loads and unloads gravel, dirt, chemicals, and other materials, tools, and equipment.
• Assists in the maintenance of city rights-of-way by picking up trash in front of mowing.
• May assist in cutting grass and trees.
• Cleans work areas, spills, or scattered debris around collection sites.
• Performs related tasks as required.
• Performs additional duties essential to the Public Works Department and/or City needs.
