Job summary

Washington County is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Division’s Safety Program for the Land Use & Transportation area. You will identify safety deficiencies, deliver training, investigate incidents, and prepare formal reports with recommendations.

The role requires familiarity with OR-OSHA standards and related regulations, plus experience in safety inspections and program management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with course work in occupational safety and health or a related field AND one (1) year of responsible experience in loss prevention, safety program development or occupational safety and health; OR
Associate degree with course work in occupational safety and health or a related field AND three (3) years of responsible experience in loss prevention, safety program development or occupational safety and health; OR
Five (5) years of applicable experience in loss prevention, safety program development or occupational safety and health.

Responsibilities

Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Division’s Safety Program.
Identify and correct safety deficiencies across public works and road maintenance activities; develop and deliver safety training.
Prepare and maintain a comprehensive written safety program; conduct accident investigations and provide reports and recommendations.
