Position Description

The Public Works Project Manager leads a team of engineering designers, manages client communications, and oversees public roadway and utility improvement projects. The role involves collaboration with experienced leaders to ensure project deliverables, deadlines, and budgets are met. Ideal candidates will have a strong civil engineering background, excellent project management skills, and a passion for enhancing public spaces.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Interface daily with clients, develop proposals, negotiate scopes and fees.
  2. Manage plan processing at public agencies.
  3. Coordinate with external consultants to develop designs exceeding client expectations.
  4. Manage project staff, including mentoring junior staff, delegating tasks, and maintaining schedules and budgets.
  5. Identify design criteria, oversee design and plan preparation, and develop team skills.
  6. Assist leadership with marketing and client development.
  7. Solve design problems using engineering calculations and standards.
  8. Establish project controls and ensure quality in plans and services.
  9. Manage scope adjustments and invoicing timely manner.
Minimum Experience
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • Current CO P.E. license with strong knowledge of civil engineering principles in a municipal setting.
  • At least 5 years designing public roadway infrastructure and writing construction specifications.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Project Manager role, managing projects and staff.
  • Ability to apply civil engineering principles within a service-oriented environment.
Education and Skills
  • Experience as an on-call Engineer with local municipalities.
  • Experience in construction inspections and contractor coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and cost estimation for land development plans.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk job sites and carry survey equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to sites.
Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year.
