Job summary

Bald Head Island is seeking a maintenance worker to perform a wide range of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks on streets, buildings, grounds, beaches, and storm water systems. You will operate equipment, assist with repairs, mowing, landscaping, and event setup, while protecting safety and public welfare.

Work is outdoors across island facilities, with exposure to varying weather and hazards; teamwork and strict adherence to instructions are essential for daily operations and island priorities.

Qualifications

• Unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to operate light to heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work well in teams and with the public.

Responsibilities

• Operates dump trucks, flail mower, loaders, tampers and other equipment.
• Repairs streets, sidewalks, drainage, and signage as needed.
• Maintains parks, beaches and right-of-ways; performs mowing and landscaping.
• Supports plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry tasks as required.
• Maintains recycling and waste programs; assists with event setup and cleanup.
• Participates in storm prep, debris removal and beach cleanup.
• Maintains simple records of work activities.
