Job summary

The City of Vernon offers two temporary Management Intern assignments in the Public Works Department. This part-time internship is capped at 1,000 work hours per fiscal year and aims to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future assignments.

Under close supervision, interns provide administrative, research, and para-professional support, assisting with projects and events while learning municipal processes and policies.

Qualifications

• Possession of a High School Diploma or GED; must be 18+.
• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Appointments to this classification are temporary, limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
• Transcripts or degree must be submitted with job application.

Responsibilities

• Assist in data analysis for departmental studies and projects.
• Prepare charts, tables, spreadsheets, flyers, forms, and diagrams.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties.
• Assist with coordination of special events.
• Interacts with community, City staff, elected officials, and businesses.
