Job summary

The City of Leawood is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support our Public Works Maintenance team. You will help keep streets and infrastructure in good repair and learn on the job with our training program.

No prior asphalt or concrete experience is required—bring a strong work ethic and willingness to learn as we train the right candidate. Typical schedule is four 10-hour shifts, 6:00am–4:30pm, with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs, patching, and maintenance for the City’s asphalt and concrete foundations.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in roadwork and construction.
• Support preparation, placement, and finishing of asphalt and concrete surfaces.
• Work closely with crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Follow direction from leadership while contributing to a positive team environment.
• Help set up traffic control and maintain safe work zones.
• Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure.
• Assist with snow removal, storm response, and other seasonal Public Works activities.
• Maintain equipment and report any issues or needed repairs.
