Job summary

The City of Leawood is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join the Public Works Department. You will inspect streets, curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, and right-of-way improvements, ensuring plans and City standards are met and documented daily progress and testing are coordinated.

You will verify permits and restoration of work areas, work with engineers and property owners, and assist during snow removal and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of construction industry and inspection/field experience or equivalent
• Associate’s degree +4 years related experience as equivalent
• Certifications/trainings in BMPs, Erosion and Sediment Control, KDOT inspection for basic structures, paving, ACI testing, IMSA work zone, NHI pipe installation and quality tech
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suites

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document daily construction activities for public infrastructure projects
• Verify ADA compliance in sidewalks, ramps, and driveways
• Ensure right-of-way permits and contractor information are up to date
• Prepare daily inspection reports and coordinate materials testing
• Conduct final inspections of public improvement and infrastructure projects
• Oversee erosion and traffic control device installation and maintenance
• Assist with obtaining right-of-way and easements from property owners
• Support snow removal and emergency operations as needed
