Job summary

The City of Sequim is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to join the Public Works team. Under supervision, the worker maintains city properties and utilities, performing repairs and installations critical to streets, water, sewer and parks.

The role supports the Streets division with roads, sidewalks and drainage work. Responsibilities include operating tools and equipment, maintaining safety standards, and responding to public inquiries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or GED) required and at least 1 year of work in general construction or building maintenance.
• Must have Washington Class B Commercial Driver’s License within 1 year of hire and maintained for duration.
• Requires traffic control flagger certification within 6 months of hire and CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain city streets, rights-of-way, sidewalks and drainage features.
• Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and light equipment.
• Perform road repairs, vegetation control and streetscape upkeep.
• Read meters and assist with water/sewer system maintenance.
• Respond to public questions and concerns about job functions.
