Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform maintenance and repair of the public works infrastructure, including water and sewer lines, sidewalks, and concrete projects. Under general supervision, you will operate light equipment and assist with repairs to ensure safe, reliable services for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND two years of experience in public works maintenance and repair operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License. May require possession of a Commercial Driver’s license.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors; lifting up to 90 pounds may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operates light motorized vehicles and equipment.
• Repairs water and sewer cuts, sidewalks, and driveways.
• May provide work training to other employees.
