Job summary

The City of Irvine is offering a One Irvine Workforce Maintenance Worker Apprenticeship (Limited Term). This full-time, 14-month program aims to develop hands-on skills in maintaining public spaces, streets, parks, and facilities, including construction, electrical work, painting, and safety practices.

Eligibility focuses on 18–30 years old with priority to Irvine residents meeting several criteria. Apprentices receive training, mentorship, and opportunities for post-apprenticeship employment

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Ability to use a computer and related software to input, query, and maintain data.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of manual labor tasks to support maintenance of City facilities, streets, equipment and parks, including debris and trash removal, restroom cleaning and stocking, and upkeep of litter‑free public areas.
• Maintain, repair, and clean park amenities such as playground equipment, picnic tables and shelters, signs, fences, bleachers, ball courts, drinking fountains, pools, and ponds; remove graffiti and perform painting and minor construction, as needed.
