Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a maintenance worker to perform a variety of general maintenance and grounds duties for city facilities and grounds. Responsibilities include equipment checks, street repairs, installation of water lines and meters, and logging daily maintenance records.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Class C driver's license. Candidates may be considered for on-call shifts and potential licensing preferences in wastewater and water distribution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class C Drivers License required.
• Preferences include Class I Wastewater Collections License, Class C Distribution Operators License or Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Check and maintain equipment to ensure proper function.
• Assist in the repair and maintenance of city streets.
• Assist in the installation of water lines, water taps and water meters.
• Assist in the installation, service and upgrade of water and sewer lines.
• Assist in the repair of sewer mains, services, manholes and lift stations.
• Log completed daily maintenance records.
• Locate breaks and/or leaks in utility lines.
• Operate equipment such as mowers, weed eaters and other heavy equipment.
• Ensure safe operating conditions of work sites.
• Assist with Utility Billing tasks, streets and parks when requested.
• Complete work orders generated by city staff.
• Attend training to further understand utility industry.
• Assist in the maintenance and inspection of departmental vehicles and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Check and maintain equipment to ensure proper function
• Assist in the repair and maintenance of city streets
• Assist in the installation of water lines, water taps and water meters
• Assists in the installation, service and upgrade of water and sewer lines
• Assist in the repair of sewer mains, services, manholes and lift stations
• Log completed daily maintenance records
• Locate breaks and/or leaks in utility lines
• Operate equipment such as mowers, weed eaters and other heavy equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Tasks are regularly performed in extreme heat and cold weather conditions
• May be subject to repetitive motion such as lifting, twisting, rotating, standing and kneeling
• Will be on a rotating on-call schedule for emergency and call outs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Class C Drivers License
