Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public works, construction, utilities, or municipal operations.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and city ordinances."

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all Public Works operations and personnel.
• Plan, assign, and oversee maintenance of city streets and alleys.
• Oversee maintenance of storm sewer systems, parks, and public buildings.
• Manage city-owned equipment and vehicles and coordinate fleet needs.
• Coordinate snow and ice removal operations.
• Oversee refuse, brush collection, and related public services.
• Manage capital improvement and infrastructure projects from planning through completion.
• Coordinate projects with engineers, contractors, and utility companies.
• Develop department budgets and monitor expenditures.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Public Works employees.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety policies and city ordinances.
• Attend City Council and committee meetings as required.
• Respond to citizen concerns and provide professional service.
• Maintain records and departmental documentation.
• Participate in emergency response operations and after-hours work.
