Job summary

The City of Lancaster is seeking dependable Heavy Equipment Operator I candidates to join our Public Works team. This role supports Streets and Storm Water divisions, performing skilled field work with heavy equipment to maintain and repair city streets and drainage systems.

Responsibilities include road and drainage maintenance, concrete work, vegetation removal, material hauling, and assisting with traffic control.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent training.
• Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
• Good reading, math, and communication skills.
• Must obtain a valid Class A CDL within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to maintain and repair streets and drainage.
• Perform roadway and drainage maintenance, concrete work, and vegetation removal.
• Haul materials and clean job sites after projects
• Assist with traffic control and maintain safe work zones.
