Job summary

The Village of Ruidoso is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a range of street maintenance machinery and support crews in paving, drainage, and road repair projects.

Responsibilities include equipment operation, routine maintenance, and assisting with construction tasks. The role requires NM CDL, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work on diverse shifts including nights and weekends in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Must possess and maintain NM Class B CDL.
• Criminal history checks and drug/alcohol test required.
• MVR background checks will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment including motor grader, rotomilling machine, paving machine, snow removal equipment, sweeper, dozer, loader, dump truck, transport rig, backhoes, and more.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vehicles and equipment; report mechanical issues.
• Install and maintain street signs and streetlights; set up traffic control devices and follow safety regulations.
• Assist with road construction, pothole repairs, culverts, drainage, and snow/ice removal as needed.
• Work irregular schedules, long hours, weekends and holidays; respond to emergencies when required.
