Job summary

Bowman is hiring a Public Works Inspector I in California to perform field inspections on public works projects such as roads, utilities, and facilities. You will interpret specs, track quantities, witness tests, and liaise with engineers and contractors while ensuring safety and quality on site.

The role requires 3+ years in construction/field services and a CA driver license; CPII/QSP are preferred. This is a full-time, on-site position with Bowman, offering strong benefits and growth

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or civil engineering coursework preferred.
• 3+ years in construction field or construction management/field services required.
• APWA CPII and QSP certifications preferred.
• Experience in municipal utility inspection a plus.
• MUST read/interpret plans and specs; knowledgeable about change orders.
• MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.
• Valid CA driver license and MVR check required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical specs, drawings, and construction details on public works projects.
• Ensure work aligns with drawings and specifications.
• Perform daily field reporting, track quantities, witness tests, and document results; liaise with engineers, contractors, and residents.
• Conduct field inspections on public works projects including water, wastewater, roadways, parks, and utilities; manage trenchless methods.
• Prepare sketches and data for field engineers for project changes.
• Review pay estimates for contractor accuracy.
• Apply knowledge of trenchless sewer rehab methods; manage multiple projects.
