Job summary

NV5, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector in California to ensure quality, safety, and compliance on public works projects including pipelines, water facilities, and lift stations. You will work with supervisors, contractors, and design professionals to keep projects on track and within plans.

The role requires 3–10 years in civil construction, relevant certifications, and strong communication. Expect field work, travel across Southern California, and a competitive hourly wage with benefits.

Qualifications

• 3-10 years of experience in civil construction principles/practices, municipal/public works focus.
• Preference for Group II Construction Inspection Certificates or similar public works certifications.
• Knowledge of building codes and engineering practices for public works or transportation projects.
• Willingness to travel within Southern California and work nights/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Be the Problem-Solver: collaborate with supervisors, contractors, and design professionals to tackle challenges.
• Oversee Quality & Compliance: monitor contractor work and inspect structures to ensure adherence to plans and specs.
• Keep Projects on Track: track costs and schedules, identify risks, and meet deadlines without overruns.
• Be the Go-To Expert: interpret plans and contract terms, align stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactively Manage Challenges: propose solutions for delays, weather disruptions, and site emergencies.
• Drive Project Success: represent NV5 and maintain strong client relationships to deliver optimal solutions.
