Job summary

City of Cerritos is seeking a senior Public Works Director to oversee engineering, maintenance, environmental services, parks, water and electric divisions, and to guide capital improvement projects in alignment with City policies.

The role requires strategic planning, strong leadership, and a commitment to excellent customer service as part of the City’s executive team. Travel to Council meetings and collaboration with other departments are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration or related field required.
• Minimum five years in Public Works or related field with at least three years in management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic planning for department activities and long-range goals.
• Direct and manage Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental Services, Park/Tree, Water and Electric Divisions.
• Administer capital improvement projects and contract administration.
• Ensure compliance with laws, codes and city policies; present reports to Council.
• Lead customer-focused service delivery and staff development.
• Attend City Council meetings as department spokesperson.
