Job summary

The City of Chico is seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Engineering Department in Public Works. This journey-level role supports minor grading and site plan reviews, assists traffic engineers, and provides customer service to developers, contractors, staff and the public.

The ideal candidate will have two years of engineering support experience and a California driver’s license. Under supervision, you will perform technical duties, create and maintain AutoCAD drawings, manage records,

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade, supplemented by college coursework in civil engineering, drafting, mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic plan checks of minor grading and site plans.
• Assists with water and sewer capacity inquiries and related fees.
• Maintains AutoCAD drawings and related documents; prepares exhibits and sight distance studies.
• Provides information on department policies, permits, services, and records to developers, contractors, staff and the public.
• Maintains administrative records and data entry for land development and utility projects.
