Job summary

Clallam County is seeking an Engineer II (Professional Engineer) to lead major Public Works projects, including roads, bridges, drainage, sewer, and utilities. You will manage projects from planning through bidding, construction, and completion, with responsibility for technical decisions and project results.

The role requires a licensed Professional Engineer and the ability to stamp work products, coordinate with agencies, and supervise lower-level staff. Two positions will be hired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and licensed Professional Engineer (WA) or ability to obtain within six months.
• Strong project management and design experience for public works projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate with agencies and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Manage public works projects from planning and design through permitting, bidding, construction, inspection, and completion.
• Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports; administer contracts and coordinate surveys, right-of-way, utilities, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Oversee inspections and ensure compliance with MUTCD and state/federal regulations; provide technical direction to staff.
• Maintain records, reports, and project documentation; ensure safety and traffic operations considerations are incorporated.
