Job summary

Clallam County is seeking an Engineer I - EIT to join our Public Works team. This entry-level engineer will contribute to planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and inspection of roads, bridges, drainage, and utility projects.

Under supervision, you will prepare plans and cost estimates, coordinate with regulators and the public, and help deliver safe, cost-effective infrastructure. A Civil Engineering degree and EIT or progression toward it are required, along with a valid WA

Qualifications

BS/BA in Civil Engineering or related field required.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Valid Washington State driver’s license (or ability to obtain).
Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status.
Background check and drug testing may be required.
OSHA/Designated Required Training.
Experience with public works projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

Meet attendance standards and perform duties in accordance with laws, policies, and ethics.
Prepare plans, cost estimates, and reports for infrastructure projects.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and the public.
Administer contracts, including pre-construction conferences, payments, change orders, and paperwork.
Inspect construction work and oversee materials testing as required.
Assist with road, bridge, drainage, sewer, and utility infrastructure projects.
