Job summary

Jefferson Township is seeking a full-time Service Crew I to maintain roads, parks, cemeteries, stormwater infrastructure, and facilities. You will gain hands-on experience with equipment like zero-turn mowers and small dump trucks.

The role offers a 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. schedule, occasional nights/weekends, and a starting pay of $24.39 per hour with a 3% raise on January 1, 2027, plus competitive benefits including OPERS and comprehensive insurance.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Ohio Class D driver's license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of road/grounds maintenance materials and safety precautions.
• Ability to perform a wide range of duties and switch tasks quickly.
• Strong interpersonal skills with staff, officials, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Provides snow and ice removal using vehicles that do not require a CDL.
• Performs groundskeeping duties: mowing, trimming, weeding, planting.
• Maintains, cleans, and repairs park facilities including playgrounds, shelters, restrooms.
• Assists with road maintenance: traffic control, pothole repair, berm maintenance, sign installation, tree trimming.
• Conducts stormwater maintenance: reclaiming ditches, repair of tiles and catch basins.
• Assists with cemetery plots for burials and cremations, and headstone foundations.
• Operates and maintains equipment: dump trucks, snow plows, zero-turn mowers, weed eaters.
