Job summary

The City of Kingsport is seeking a qualified Public Works Supervisor to coordinate a crew at designated sites and projects. You will oversee daily tasks, ensure safety, and maintain quality standards in compliance with city regulations.

Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining equipment, tracking inventory in Cartegraph, and assisting the Foreman with scheduling and performance evaluations. CDL is required for internal candidates or obtained within six months for external hires.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience equivalent to two years full time work in the assigned area.
• Some supervisory experience preferred.
• Internal Candidates must possess a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at a level appropriate to the area assigned; External Candidates must obtain CDL within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise assigned crew members at the job site.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and safety (ADA, pesticide, traffic, trench, etc.).
• Train and coach maintenance workers and supervise adherence to procedures.
• Maintain documentation via Cartegraph and manage inventory/asset tracking daily.
• Assist Foreman with scheduling, evaluations, and interaction with the public.
