Job summary

Public Works, Rebuild Authority in California seeks an experienced Cost Control II to provide project cost accounting and to help design, implement, and administer a rebate program supporting the rebuild effort.

Candidates must have at least 10 years in cost accounting or public program financial management, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and proven ability to track costs, establish cost codes, produce clear reports, and coordinate with managers, auditors, and agencies.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of cost accounting or public program financial management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience designing rebate, reimbursement, grant, or incentive programs.
• Ability to establish cost codes and job cost structures.
• Strong financial reporting and dashboards.
• Advanced Excel and privacy compliance.
• Ability to collaborate with managers, auditors, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide project cost accounting for public works projects.
• Design, implement, and administer rebate program.
• Track and reconcile costs across multiple projects and funding sources.
• Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and briefing materials.
• Ensure internal controls to prevent duplicate or ineligible payments and audit readiness.
• Coordinate with project managers, finance staff, auditors, and partner agencies.
