Job summary

The City of Kannapolis is seeking a Construction Maintenance Worker to perform semiskilled tasks across streets, water/sewer lines and drainage projects. Reporting to the Crew Chief, you’ll operate trucks and light equipment, assist with installations, and support street maintenance in a DOT-regulated environment.

Applicants should be able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in varying weather, and pass safety and certification requirements within a year. Open until filled.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods and follow oral instructions.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; reading level required for forms and notes.
• Experience with vehicles or equipment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform semiskilled tasks on construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
• Operate and assist with trucks and equipment, load materials and manage debris.
• Assist with water and sewer line work, drainage, and street maintenance.
• Help with traffic control, flagging, and setting up work zones.
• Perform related duties as required.
