The City of Kannapolis is seeking a Construction Maintenance Worker to perform semiskilled tasks across streets, water/sewer lines and drainage projects. Reporting to the Crew Chief, you’ll operate trucks and light equipment, assist with installations, and support street maintenance in a DOT-regulated environment.
Applicants should be able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in varying weather, and pass safety and certification requirements within a year. Open until filled.
HIRING RANGE: $21.57 - $24.80 hourly; $44,871 - $51,601 annually

The Construction Maintenance Worker performs responsible semiskilled work on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects. Reporting to the Crew Chief, the Construction Maintenance Worker works under general supervision sufficient to monitor progress and assess achievement of key performance indicators.

HighSchool diploma or GED preferred and minimal experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Those applying without a high school diploma or GED must have 10th grade reading level and ability to write complete sentences.
Possession of or ability to acquire a Class A commercial driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina within one year of employment. CDL A must be maintained for the duration of employment. Demonstrated safe driving history. Possession of or ability to obtain Class C Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections I certifications, Flagger, ITRE and Pesticide certification as needed within one year of employment as applicable for each Division.
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). This position is subject to random substance abuse testing at any time for the duration of employment and while occupying a DOT regulated position.
