Job summary

State of Hawai'i DOT is recruiting for a position that inspects public works construction and major maintenance projects to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of journey-level construction experience; one year in inspection or supervising trades is required.

A valid driver's license and TWIC clearance may be required during selection.

Qualifications

Graduation from high school, or equivalent OR work experience which demonstrated the ability to read and apply oral and written instructions, write simply and directly and perform arithmetic computations.
Two (2) Years of journey-level experience in one or more of the construction trades.
One (1) year of (A) Construction inspection work experience OR (B) Supervisory work over a force of skilled trades workers.
Valid driver's license required at application time.
Pre-employment TWIC clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

Independently inspects all phases of public works construction and major maintenance projects for conformance with plans, specs, contracts, regulations and standard methods of work.
Assures compliance with designs, specifications and applicable workmanship, material and safety codes.
Performs related duties as assigned.
