Job summary

La Plata County seeks a project manager to support the Director of Public Works and County Engineer in evaluating citizen requests for traffic signs, road improvements, and public safety matters.

Responsibilities include managing road and bridge design and construction projects, conducting field inspections, and coordinating permits; candidates should have a civil engineering background and Colorado PE or be eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field; and five years of related engineering/construction experience with PM or inspection exposure.
• Colorado Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within six months; or equivalent.
• Experience reviewing construction plans, managing design and construction projects, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering services and manage County Public Works projects, including design and design reviews.
• Provide design and drafting using AutoCAD.
• Review construction developments (subdivisions/site plans) and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Manage road and bridge design and construction projects and supervise staff as required.
• Coordinate permits for driveways/utility work and oversee inspections for conformance to codes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with citizens, utilities, developers, contractors and the Director of Public Works.
