Job summary

Pend Oreille County Public Utility District seeks a General Counsel to deliver professional, objective legal counsel to the Commission and district management. The role includes advising on local, state and federal laws, contracts, and policy management, with oversight of FERC and NERC compliance.

The position requires coordinating outside counsel, managing district contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance across agencies. A JD and active WA Bar membership are essential.

Qualifications

• Attorney licensed to practice in Washington state; familiarity with municipal, contract and general business law.
• Experience advising boards and public sector bodies, and interacting with legislators.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely legal advice to District management and Board of Commissioners.
• Oversee compliance with NERC, FERC, WECC and other regulatory standards.
• Coordinate outside counsel and supervise legal services as needed.
• Oversee district contracts, documents, and resolutions and ensure compliance with state/federal requirements.
