Job summary

Pend Oreille Public Utility District seeks a General Counsel to provide professional, objective legal advice to the Commission and district management. The role includes FERC and NERC compliance oversight, contract review, and coordination with outside counsel.

The successful candidate will be licensed in Washington, with significant municipal and public sector law experience, and the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance for staff and the Board.

Qualifications

• Must be an attorney licensed to practice in the State of Washington and member of the Washington State Bar Association.
• Significant experience in municipal, contract and general business law.
• Experience with public sector governance, policy advice and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional legal counsel to the Commission and District management and staff.
• Oversee contracts, legal documents, licenses, and agreements.
• Advise on FERC license compliance, NERC reliability compliance and regulatory matters.
• Attend Board of Commissioners meetings and present clear legal guidance.
• Coordinate outside counsel and manage cost-effective legal services.
