Job summary

Colorado Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General, seeks an Assistant Attorney General for the Utility Consumer Advocate Unit to represent residential, small commercial, and agricultural utility consumers in electric, gas, and telecom matters before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop evidence, advocate positions, and navigate complex regulatory issues, including decarbonization and energy policy goals.

Qualifications

• Litigation experience including drafting pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Experience conducting hearings before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission or other utility commissions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of public utility regulation by the PUC and of decarbonization goals.

Responsibilities

• Represent the UCA in contested proceedings before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
• Independently manage matters through all phases of administrative litigation.
• Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Prepare and present testimony and examine witnesses at hearings.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and advise on legal risks.
