Job summary

The Red Bank Borough is seeking a motivated Public Utilities Worker (Laborer) to join the Department of Public Utilities on a full-time basis. The role involves performing a wide range of manual tasks, operating power tools and various equipment used in water and wastewater projects, and contributing to the upkeep of streets, parks and public spaces.

Under supervision, you will help with infrastructure projects, street repairs, snow removal and routine maintenance, while maintaining safe work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license; CDL Class B with Air Brake preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather.
• 1 year of public works, street, water, or sewer maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor tasks including lifting and carrying materials.
• Operate light and heavy equipment such as trucks and snowplows.
• Maintain streets, parks, public buildings, and other properties.
• Assist with street repairs, asphalt patching, snow removal, leaf collection, and storm drain cleaning.

Public Utilities Worker (Laborer) – Red Bank Borough.

The Borough is seeking a motivated and reliable full-time Public Utilities Worker to join the Department of Public Utilities team. Under the supervision of the Department Foreman, this position involves performing a wide range of manual labor tasks, including, using power tools, and handling various equipment related to public works projects including water and wastewater. The successful candidate will be an integral part of maintaining public spaces, assisting with infrastructure projects, and contributing to the overall upkeep of the Borough. Salary Range: $22.74 – $33.74 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Work takes place indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, requiring physical labor and the safe operation of equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor tasks, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, and transporting materials.
• Operate light and heavy equipment, including trucks and snowplows.
• Maintenance of streets, parks, public buildings, and other properties.
• Perform street repairs, asphalt patching, snow removal, leaf collection, and storm drain cleaning.
• Maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Cleans up underbrush, foliage, vines, and weeds.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school, vocational high school, or possession of an approved High School Equivalency Certificate.
• Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
• Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B license with an Air Brake endorsement preferred OR the ability to acquire one within one year of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity.

Experience

• One (1) year of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of streets, sewer, water, sanitation, or other public works facilities or similar heavy construction or maintenance work preferred.
