Job summary

The Metropolitan District (MDC) seeks a Project Manager to supervise the District's Capital Improvement Program, overseeing major capital projects and facility upgrades with a focus on safety, cost, and adherence to specifications.

You will coordinate internal staff and external consultants, manage budgets, schedules, environmental documents, and regulatory compliance, and present project summaries to the Board and public officials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or electrical engineering; six years of progressively responsible engineering design and/or project management experience.
  • Must possess a Connecticut Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 90 days of hire.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees development of short and mid-term CIP plan including environmental reports and related documentation.
  • Supervises engineering review of project requests and proposals and assigns projects to staff.
  • Develops schedules and critical paths, manages budgets, and handles change control.
  • Provides technical advice to consultants, contractors, engineers, and District officials.
  • Represents projects to the public, property owners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Manages administrative aspects: budgets, purchase orders, permits, inspections, and documentation.
  • Coordinates planning and preliminary design activities and facilitates approvals.
  • Coordinates design/construction phases and ensures compliance with contracts and standards.
