Job summary

Lee County is seeking friendly and responsible bus drivers to help people get where they need to go safely. This year-round role anticipates 40 hours per week with opportunities for advancement into a full-time position.

Driver responsibilities include safe passenger transport, fare collection, assisting riders, enforcing ADA accessibility, and maintaining vehicle safety. Training is provided on the job, with benefits starting after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or similar experience).
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Pass Florida DOT Medical Exam and keep a current medical card.
• Pass fingerprint and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Drive passengers safely to pick up and drop off locations, escorting them to and from the vehicle.
• Help passengers with questions and collect fares.
• Make sure the bus is comfortable (heat, air, lighting).
• Follow ADA rules and help passengers with disabilities, including securing wheelchairs.
• Check your bus and equipment for safety and general maintenance needs.
• Complete daily reports and paperwork.
• Use bus technology like tablets and GPS.
• Do other duties as assigned.
