Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping, public area, environmental services, or similar hospitality experience required.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience in a hotel, resort, club, healthcare, or comparable service environment preferred.

  • Ability to coach team members, organize assignments, manage shifting priorities, and follow through on completion.

Responsibilities

  • Train, coach, and support Public Space team members on procedures, safety, and resort standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Public Space Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping
JOB OVERVIEW

Boar’s Head Resort is seeking a hands-on, service-minded Public Space Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness, presentation, and daily readiness of the resort’s public and guest-facing areas. This role is responsible for supervising Public Space team members, assigning work, inspecting completed areas, responding to operational needs, and ensuring that lobbies, restrooms, corridors, meeting areas, entrances, and other public spaces consistently reflect luxury resort standards.

The Public Space Supervisor is expected to maintain a visible presence throughout the operation, coach team members in real time, and work closely with Housekeeping and other resort departments to address priorities quickly. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing team leadership with hands‑on support.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Hotel and resort environment with frequent movement throughout guest-facing and back‑of‑house areas. The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and use of housekeeping equipment and cleaning products. Hours will vary based on business levels, events, and operational needs. Weekend availability is required, and the position may also include evenings and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leadership & Daily Operations
  • Supervise the daily Public Space operation and assign work based on occupancy, events, guest activity, and resort priorities.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence throughout public areas and provide hands‑on support when needed.
  • Inspect assigned areas throughout the shift and ensure cleaning, presentation, and readiness standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor staffing levels, breaks, assignments, supplies, and shift priorities to keep the operation running efficiently.
  • Communicate changing priorities clearly and follow up to ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping leadership and other departments when public spaces require additional attention, repairs, setup support, or service recovery.
Public Area Cleanliness & Presentation
  • Ensure lobbies, public restrooms, corridors, elevators, entrances, meeting areas, stairwells, offices, and other assigned public spaces are clean, organized, and guest ready.
  • Maintain high standards for floors, glass, furniture, fixtures, trash removal, restrooms, high‑touch surfaces, and overall presentation.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs to identify cleanliness, maintenance, safety, or presentation concerns before they affect the guest experience.
  • Ensure housekeeping carts, closets, storage areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Report maintenance concerns promptly and follow up with the appropriate department to support timely resolution.
Guest Experience Excellence
  • Acknowledge guests promptly and professionally and assist with reasonable requests or secure appropriate support when needed.
  • Respond to guest concerns with urgency, courtesy, and discretion, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain a polished, professional presence in all guest-facing areas and reinforce the same expectation with team members.
  • Support a service culture that is attentive, respectful, and responsive to guest needs.
Team Development
  • Train, coach, and support Public Space team members on cleaning procedures, equipment use, service expectations, safety practices, and resort standards.
  • Set clear expectations for attendance, appearance, productivity, teamwork, communication, and follow-through.
  • Provide timely feedback and recognize strong performance while addressing performance or conduct concerns in accordance with Resort policies and procedures.
  • Support onboarding and cross‑training to build team capability and ensure appropriate coverage.
Quality, Safety & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Monitor supply and linen needs and communicate replenishment requirements to Housekeeping leadership.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and ensure team members follow established safety procedures and manufacturer instructions.
  • Follow and reinforce Resort safety, security, sanitation, and lost‑and‑found procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shift communication, inspection follow‑up, and other departmental documentation as required.
  • Participate in pre‑shift meetings, departmental meetings, and training as assigned.

Requirements

The role may require bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting moderate weight, operating housekeeping equipment, and working with cleaning products. The Public Space Supervisor must be able to respond quickly to operational needs and work weekends, evenings, and holidays as business levels require.
