Hillside Public Library in Hillside, IL seeks a Public Services Director to lead the Public Services Department and shape library services for the community. The role includes supervising staff, directing programs, budgets, and planning, with a focus on inclusive service and partnerships.

Ideal candidates bring an ALA‑accredited master's in library science, 2 years in a public library, and 1 year of supervisory experience. Bilingual Spanish skills are encouraged and supported by the library.

Formación

• ALA‑accredited master’s degree in library science required.
• Two years of successful experience in a public library.
• One year of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience.
• Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply as bilingual service is an asset.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee Public Services Department including reference, readers’ advisory, programming, and community outreach.
• Supervise professional staff, manage departmental operations and budgets, and participate in library-wide planning.
• Develop welcoming, inclusive service reflecting the community’s needs and interests; guide staff and foster partnerships.
• Remain actively engaged in direct public service alongside staff to serve users of all ages and backgrounds.
