Job summary

County of Santa Barbara is seeking a full-time Utility Clerk in Santa Barbara to perform mail distribution, storekeeping, inventory maintenance, and minor maintenance tasks across departmental facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service, independence, and communications skills, plus the ability to work under general supervision and handle varied duties including driving and forklift operation where needed.

Responsibilities

• Collects, weighs, meters, and pre-sorts mail; delivers and distributes mail; handles shipping/receiving of USPS mail; provides courier services between department facilities as needed.
• Orders, receives, unloads, inspects, and shelves supplies; rotates and delivers stock; uses computer to maintain records; conducts annual inventories; operates a forklift as required.
• Responds to staff requests for building or office repairs; identifies needs and notifies supervisor; performs minor repairs and reconfigures furniture; submits work orders and requisition forms.
• Lifts, moves, and transports heavy furniture and appliances.
