Job summary

County of Santa Barbara is seeking a full-time Utility Clerk, Departmental, in the Social Services Department in Santa Barbara. The role involves delivering mail and supplies, maintaining stores and inventory, and performing minor maintenance tasks.

A California driver’s license is required, and candidates should be prepared to operate forklifts and heavy items as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• One year of experience in mailroom, courier, storekeeping, or shipping and receiving.
• OR an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
• Possession of a California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of appointment and kept throughout the term.

Responsibilities

• Collects, weighs, meters, and pre-sorts first class, registered, and certified mail; delivers and distributes mail; provides shipping/receiving of USPS mail; uses a vehicle to transport items between department facilities.
• Orders, receives, unloads, inspects, stores, packs, and labels supplies and equipment; maintains inventory records and performs fixed asset inventories.
• Responds to requests for building or office repairs; performs minor repairs and updates work orders or requisitions.
• Lifts, moves and transports heavy and/or bulky furniture and appliances as needed.
