Job summary

Virginia Attorney General’s Office – Technology & Procurement Law Section in Richmond seeks an Assistant Attorney General to draft and negotiate technology contracts, including cloud and SaaS agreements, and advise on public procurement and data privacy issues. The role reports to the Section Chief and supports agency clients across the Commonwealth.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for waiver at time of application.
• Three (3) years of experience drafting and negotiating technology contracts.
• Ability to manage government agency clients.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate cloud, software licensing, SaaS, MSAs, and other tech procurement contracts.
• Advise agencies on Virginia public procurement law, solicitations, contract questions and vendor management.
• Conduct high-risk contract reviews required by statute.
• Advise on data privacy, data sharing, accessibility, and other tech contract terms.
• Serve as primary or back-up counsel to assigned client agencies.
• Review proposed legislation.
• Other duties as assigned by the Section Chief.
