Job summary

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South, part of the Missouri Department of Mental Health, is seeking a positive HR Assistant.

This position reports to the Human Resources Specialist and supports payroll, personnel actions, and confidentiality. Responsibilities include entering and updating employee data in the payroll system, preparing payroll documents, generating reports, maintaining files, and drafting correspondence.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal and state HR laws, policies and procedures.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Well organized with the ability to manage priorities.
• Proficient writing and professional communication skills.
• 2–4 years of relevant HR experience (substitutions may be permitted).

Responsibilities

• Performs payroll, personnel and payroll-related functions.
• Work independently to complete assigned HR duties.
• Enters and updates employee data, deductions and tax withholdings.
• Oversees timely processing of payroll transactions and related documents.
• Assists in position allocation and reallocation data.
• Maintains position codes and organizational charts.
• Generates personnel and payroll reports and verifies accuracy.
• Maintains confidentiality of consumer and personnel information.
• Clerical HR support: files, database tracking, letters and correspondence.
