Job summary

State of Missouri's St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – South is seeking a positive Food Service Assistant to prepare and serve meals to patients and staff in accordance with dietary guidelines. The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and efficient service in a clinical setting.

Evening hour shifts receive a $2.00 per hour differential; the position offers comprehensive state benefits and requires the ability to lift 20-30 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Qualifications

• No disciplinary action in last 12 months.
• Willingness to receive Hepatitis A vaccination.
• Possess a valid driver's license (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food to patients and staff following dietary guidelines.
• Operates and sanitizes food service equipment (steam tables, refrigerators, dish machines).
• Monitors temperatures of stored and served foods and sanitation equipment.
• Cleans dining areas and moves furniture/equipment to facilitate cleaning.
• Transports food from prep to serving areas using carts or motorized vehicle.
• Follows hazardous chemicals procedures per MSDS and supervisor instructions.
• Attends work per facility policies and covers shifts as needed.
• Completes competency training to meet accreditation standards.
• Able to lift 20-30 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Food Service Assistant

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Food Service Assistant who has an interest in helping those with mental illness maximize their potential.

There is a $2.00 an hour differential for evening hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food to patients and staff in accordance with established dietary guidelines and policies.
• Operates and assures sanitation of food service equipment including steam tables, refrigerators, dish machines, etc.
• Monitors and maintains temperatures within prescribed limits of stored foods, serving line foods, and sanitation equipment.
• Disassembles serving line and cleans/sanitizes serving and dining areas. Moves dining room furniture and serving equipment to facilitate thorough cleaning.
• Transports food from preparation area to serving areas using carts and motorized vehicle.
• Knows and understands procedures for use of hazardous chemicals in compliance with material safety data sheets and supervisor's instructions.
• Attends work according to facility policies and works overtime or other shifts in order to assure adequate staff coverage.
• Successfully completes initial and continuing competency training in order that the facility can meet accreditation standards.
• Physical needs: Be able to lift 20-30 pounds, bend at waist, and stand for extended periods.
