Job summary

Thurston County Human Resources is seeking a knowledgeable Human Resources Analyst to provide professional-level support across HR functions. The role serves as a consultant delivering high-quality HR services and guidance to leadership and employees, ensuring fair, compliant, and effective application of HR policies.

The ideal candidate will interpret technical HR concepts, support compliance with employment laws, and build collaborative relationships across a diverse, fast-paced organization,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, psychology, public administration or related field.
• Three years of applicable experience in a human resources discipline.
• Ability to utilize a PC and HR software to perform word processing, analysis, information retrieval and tracking.
• Current Washington State Driver’s License or can obtain a suitable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to hiring managers on recruitment and job-offer processes to ensure compliance with county policies and regulations.
• Administer the county’s recruitment software system and monitor workflows; participate in testing and process improvements.
• Develop or oversee review of reclassification requests and classification specifications.
• Conduct workplace investigations into harassment or discrimination and draft investigative reports with recommendations.
• Partner with managers to address performance issues and advise on disciplinary processes, including just cause and progressive discipline.
