Job summary

The Port of Oakland is seeking a Port Human Resource Analyst to perform a variety of professional duties across recruitment, examination, classification, compensation, and personnel projects in the Human Resources Department.

Typical duties include conducting job analyses, developing examination procedures, evaluating applications, and conducting salary/benefit analyses. TSA background check is required, and overtime/weekend availability may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human resources management, business administration, public administration, industrial relations or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience at the level of a Port Assistant Human Resource Analyst.
• Successful completion of TSA background check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA) prior to employment.
• Willingness to work overtime and on weekends occasionally to oversee and/or facilitate examinations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts job analyses to classify positions and determine critical elements for examination purposes.
• Interviews employees, supervisors, managers, directors, and subject matter experts to gather information for test items and examination processes.
• Directs clerical and technical staff on examination-related tasks and may train support staff.
• Develops, coordinates, and administers the examination process, including evaluation of applications and administration of tests and other assessments.
• Plans and conducts classification studies and desk audits; prepares class specifications and recommends allocations.
