Job summary

Town of Waxhaw seeks a Finance Director to act as CFO, directing accounting, budgeting, reporting and internal controls for the town. You will oversee GL integrity, month-end closes, pre-audit work, and grant accounting, while ensuring GASB/GAAP compliance and audit readiness.

The role requires strong leadership of treasury, debt management, and strategic financial planning in a municipal context, coordinating with the Town Manager and governing board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or related field.
• 5–7 years in government accounting with 3+ years in management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pre-audit, disbursements, treasury and debt administration.
• Manage general ledger, month-end closes, and audit readiness.
• Prepare financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, and fund balance projections.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and grant accounting oversight.
