Job summary

Town of Marshville is seeking a Finance Director to oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, financial reporting, revenue collection, and grant administration. The role provides leadership to ensure fiscal integrity and accurate information for Town leadership.

The ideal candidate has strong government accounting and budgeting expertise, excellent communication and analytical skills, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Experience in government accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• CPA preferred; NC Finance Officers' Certification must be earned within 18–24 months.
• Strong communication, leadership, and analytical abilities.

About the Position: The Finance Director oversees all financial operations for the Town of Marshville, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, financial reporting, revenue collection, and grant administration. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring the Town’s fiscal integrity, supporting strategic initiatives, and providing accurate financial information to Town leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists in preparing and managing the annual budget
• Oversee payroll accounts payable and general ledger
• Prepare financial reports and state submissions
• Monitor revenues and expenditures
• Provide financial guidance to Town Manager and Board Members

Ideal Candidate: An experienced finance professional with strong knowledge of government accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills with the ability to build strong relationships and improve financial systems. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. CPA preferred, and NC Finance Officers' Certification required within 18 to 24 months.
