Job summary

Hertford County is seeking a Finance Director to plan, organize and direct the County's financial activities. You will supervise the Finance Department staff and report to the County Manager, coordinating budget development and financial reporting.

The position requires leadership in public finance, strong budgeting and analytical skills, and the ability to implement policies in line with government regulations. On-site work in North Carolina with a collaborative government team.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience equivalent to a college degree with five years in public finance administration and supervisory experience.
• Preferred 4-year degree in accounting, business management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial activities of the County, including budgeting, purchasing, payroll and accounting operations.
• Direct formulation and implementation of finance policies per applicable laws.
• Plan and direct Finance Department operations and supervise staff.
• Assist County Manager with budget development and presentations.
• Coordinate operating and capital budgets with revenue and expenditure projections.
• Prepare financial reports and records for agencies and commissioners.
